Do you enjoy sports and competing? The Junior High St. Elmo/ Brownstown softball coach Tom Fedrigon sure does! Coach Fedrigon is originally from Mattoon where he attended Mattoon High School. He also attended Lakeland College and Lincoln Christian University. He has been coaching for the better part of thirty five years, and sixteen of the thirty five has been coaching softball. Coach Fedrigon became a coach because he enjoys teaching the game and working with the youth.
Coach Fedrigon said preseason went well and the girls are working hard to learn and play the game. During practice and games he expects the girls to work hard as a team and show determination to become better players. Coach Fedrigon mentioned “This is a mindset that not only bodes well for softball, but also for life in general.”
As every team does they have their strengths and weaknesses. Coach Fedrigon said the group's strengths are their athleticism, quickness, and how smart they play the game. He also said they are comprised of sixth graders, so sometimes they are overpowered. However, the girls have no excuses and play every game with fight and conviction. The team leaders would have to be eighth graders Haley Wright, Josie Strauch, and Tristyn King. The eighth graders work hard to help the new players learn the game.
The team consists of eighth graders Tristyn King, Haley Wright, and Josie Strauch. Sixth graders include Olivia Barker, Laney Baldrige, Megan Hall, Addie McWhorter, Avery Myers, Shelby Sasse, Keturah Sidwell, Lydia Smith, and Sydney Stine. Congratulations on a great season!
