The Great Central U.S. Shakeout

posted Oct 20, 2015, 9:43 AM by School Publications
On Thursday, October 15th BHS participated in national earthquake awareness day . The Great Shakeout earthquake drills are an annual opportunity for people in homes, schools, and businesses to practice what to do during earthquakes, and to improve preparedness . One should have  a plan in case an earthquake hits and review that plan with friends, family, and co-workers. Have an emergency kit ready, including water, a flashlight with batteries, a first-aid kit and personal hygiene items. Organize disaster supplies in convenient locations. Most importantly you should drop, cover, and hold on when the earth shakes. Before an earthquake happens you should secure your space by identifying hazards and securing moveable items. Plan to be safe by creating a disaster plan and deciding how you will communicate during an emergency.
