Junior high students may have noticed a new face when they entered Ms Alstat's classroom.  Ms Bailey Ochs, an English major from Greenville College, will be a language arts and reading student teacher this fall semester.  Ms Ochs grew up in the area of Dellwood and Spanish Lake, Missouri which are in the north county of St. Louis.  She was part of North County Christian School's National Honor Society in Florissant, Missouri.  Ms Ochs is majoring in English Language Arts Education at Greenville College.  While attending, she was involved in activities with her church and also worked as a peer English tutor.

Ms Ochs has always enjoyed going to school and learning new skills and she wanted to help others learn how to become better readers and writers, which are skills she believes everyone needs to succeed later in life.  Her inspiration came from influential teachers while she was in high school, and she aspires to be like them in her own classroom one day.  Ms Ochs has wanted to be a teacher for as long as she can remember.  Her final decision to pursue the profession was when she entered college and declared an Elementary Education degree.  She later changed her degree to Secondary English.

Ms Ochs enjoys student teaching because it allows her to put into practice what
she has been learning about education in her college classes.  She also likes learning from other teachers so that she can become better herself.  She enjoys creative writing, listening to music, running, cooking, and spending time with friends.  In the future, Ms Ochs is planning to teach middle school or high school English in the St. Louis area.  She is also looking into opportunities to teach English as a second language.
