The SEB JH volleyball season is in full swing for 2015. The 7th grade girls have a record of 2-2 and the 8th grade ladies are 1-3. I had the pleasure to speak briefly with each coach from both squads about this season. When speaking with Michelle Seabaugh, the 7th grade coach, she stated that Krista Stine, the 8th grade coach, and herself are really enjoying their first season together. So far, both teams have started strong and are working hard to make this a great year.
When asked what goals she would like to accomplish this year with her team Michelle Seabaugh replied with, “I would like to see us have at least a 15-win season. I hope that we will be playing in the championship of the NTC tournament and the 7th Grade Regional. I want the girls to improve on the fundamentals of the game and of course have fun doing it.” Then, when asked what she thought were the strengths of the team this year, she said, “I have very solid servers at the 7th grade level. My first five servers are capable of scoring a lot of points when they are on. They are a thinking team from the standpoint of knowing where they are supposed to be on the court, where they are moving to, and who's serving next.” Coach Seabaugh is excited and looking forward to the games coming up in the season.
Coach Stine went on to add that the strengths of her 8th grade team are that they focus on teamwork and a “don’t quit” attitude. She also said the goals she would like to accomplish would be to double their wins from last year. “I’m looking to play hard no matter who the opponent is.” Both Coaches seem excited for what the season has to bring.Athletes on the 7th grade SEB volleyball team include Cassidy Moss, Vayda Smith, Avyree Scholes, Katelyn Maxey, Ava Pattillo, Erin Hannagan, Makenzie Walk, Sharley Gaston, Emma Gathe, and Natalie Oberlink.
