2015-2016 SEB HS Cheerleading

This 2015-2016 Cheerleading season is off to a great start! Tryouts were held in April of 2015 and cheerleaders have been practicing hard, through the summer and fall, to get cheers ready for basketball games and to perfect their three minute competition routine consisting of stunts, tumbling, jumps, a cheer, and a dance for their competitions.

Coach Deb Hunter is looking forward to the many new stunts and the rebuilding of the team. The squad has ten new members this year! This years seniors include Kandice Beshel, Anastasia Brandt, Addison Cage, Sydney Rosborough, and Kaylee Sefton. Juniors are Abby Durbin, Alisa Rush, Brittany Seibert, Kearstin Scholes, and Shelby Moran. Sophomores include Nicole Buff, and Marissa Carraway. Freshman are Chloe Haslet, Hailey Rush, and Amber Sarchet.

Coach Hunter started coaching when her oldest son was in 5th grade, when he was playing 5th and 6th grade basketball, Deb saw a need for a cheer coach that wanted to be involved and had a love for cheerleading. Coach Hunter has been coaching for twenty years total, seventeen years at Brownstown High School, and three at St. Elmo High School. Deb is enjoying the co-op with St. Elmo and says that it is has been a positive adventure. Scheduling has been a bit tough but she works it out and always finds a way to work around everyone's busy schedules. Coach says the team's strengths this year are that they are a hardworking group of girls and get along very well. The girls compete in two to three ICCA competitions, a IHSA competition, and the St. Elmo and Vandalia Holiday Tournament competitions.

Coach Hunter would like to invite everyone out to the basketball games and competitions. Come and support the team whether it be a cheerleader or a basketball player. The athletes all work hard and need the support from everyone. Also, join us for our annual Chili Supper November 20th and stick around for our Spirit Night! It will be full of games, music, and lots of laughter. Hope to see everyone there!
