At Brownstown High School the school publication class has much to offer. The class runs the school webpage, which can be found at www.bcusd201.com The webpage offers the latest news, calendars, student activities, school board agendas, as well as financial and informational materials on the district. The students in the school publications class work very hard all year on news and presentations for the website and the school. Students that make up the class are Tabitha Dolan, Shayla Stokes, Nathan Matthews, Destanie Ishum, Andrew Koonce, and Caitlyn Reeter.
The class focuses on learning many ways to use technology and how to be a better writer. Students use the google apps to manage the website with products like Google Sites, Docs, Drive, and Plus. They tweet out daily announcements via twitter. Students also create photo albums by taking and editing photography (with the help of Miss Sandra Stine), work on slideshows and pamphlets, and even fine tune speeches for end of the year ceremonies. Students collaborate on ideas and writing with these many tools in order to help one another and learn how to work as a team.
The school publications class offers a great learning experience and it’s actually quite fun. Students in the class have to plan, think, and edit constantly. This year there seems to be a lot of inspired and determined students in the class. Students, parents, and the community should continue to use the school website for the latest news and updates. The class hopes to inform and entertain the people who view the school website. If you want to suggest material for the webpage contact Mr. Redden, and the school pub class will make it happen.
