Plastic Caps for 2016

posted Dec 11, 2013, 7:33 AM by Travis Redden

Did you know that all plastics come from a barrel of oil?  It makes good sense to not waste this natural resource.  The 2016 sophomore class is asking students and staff to please collect plastic caps/lids and turn them into their sponsor Mr. Sasse.  Plastic caps often get thrown away or fall out of plastic recycling bales and become trash.  Instead of wasting plastic, how about we make a new bench for the front of the high school?  400 pounds of caps will get our school an awesome recycled bench.  The bench is high quality and takes what is often thrown away and turns it into an outdoor resting spot where students can relax for years to come.  This is a great recycling project to get involved with.  Oil is made over millions of years, then used as a plastic cap for only a month.  But it now has the opportunity to become a plastic bench enjoyed by many for years to come.  Now that's a good idea!
