The Brownstown School District has had the pleasure of receiving Mrs. Sherry Harmon as the principal of the elementary school. She has had plenty of experience in the educational field. She has worked at Teutopolis Unit 50, Richland County Unit 1, and Effingham Unit 40. Mrs. Harmon says she loves the small school feel Brownstown has to offer. Growing up Mrs. Harmon went to a small elementary school and she said they were like one big family. The job is relatively close to home, only having a thirty minute commute to work. Her goal this year is to get to know and build a relationship with all stakeholders.

Mrs. Harmon says Brownstown School District is an awesome district to be apart of. There are no big problems that she notices with the district. She doesn't think she will further her education to become a superintendent, but she is not opposed to it. When asked if she has more work as a principal she said,” All educators work very hard during the day and usually take work home with them in the evening. My experiencing teaching was mostly in kindergarten and first grade, and there was a great deal of planning and preparation that I had to do. I probably put in the same amount of hours each day now as I did as a teacher, but the work as a principal is just very different.” We are glad to have Mrs. Harmon working to make Brownstown School District a better place.
