Lucas Scott Chandler Scholarship

posted Feb 21, 2014, 7:20 AM by School Publications

The Lucas Scott Chandler Scholarship was established by Lucien and Ellie Chandler of St. Elmo in memory of their son Lucas.  To obtain the scholarship, the senior students must have a GPA of at least 3.0 or above. Considerations include:  Student’s record, ACT or SAT composite score, cumulative grade point average, applicant’s curriculum, extracurricular activities, and work activities.  The recipient chosen will be based on several areas of consideration.  The student’s academic record, financial need, and essay describing career goals, is also viewed.  Each year, Lucien and Ellie hold an annual motorcycle run named “The Little Buddy Run” to raise money for the scholarship.

The scholarship money will be presented directly to the student in two $250 checks made payable to the school of their choice.  The first payment will be made at the beginning of the fall semester and the second at the beginning of the spring semester.  The scholarship is open for both Brownstown and St. Elmo seniors.  One winner and one alternate will be chosen from Brownstown High School.  Students who are interested may check with Mrs. Hardiek for an application.
