On Thursday, April 10th, three BHS band students spent the day at Kaskaskia College in Centralia, Illinois. The students were selected to be part of the Honor Band, a group of high schoolers from ten surrounding school districts. Throughout the day, the young musicians rehearsed with guest director Dr. Kenneth Steinsultz for the final performance.

That evening, after hours of practice, all one hundred and eleven students gave a concert that was open to the public. Five pieces were featured, including the following:  Butterfly's Ball, Hosts of Freedom March, Flourish For Wind Band, Song For Lyndsay, and The Light Eternal. Some songs were composed simply for entertainment, while others commemorated significant people and events throughout history.

Brownstown students performing in the concert were Harley Brant, Katie Carson, and Chloe Carson, who were accompanied during the day by BHS music director Kendra Houghtaling.
