Do you want to be part of the Great Books Club? All one has to do is read three books from the list and pass the AR quiz with a 90% or higher before the Brownstown High School spring academic ceremony. The book list includes classics in literature and history as well as notable modern books. From
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen  to 1421: The Year China Discovered America by Gavin Menzies, students will be able to find some literature that piques their interest. Even a few graphic novels are on the list, such as Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi.  Mr. Redden's ultimate goal of the program is to push students to read books outside of their comfort zone. Mr. Harms and Mr. Sasse, history teachers at BHS, are also aiding in this project.  In addition to being recognized for your work at the academic ceremony in May, students will also receive ten Bomber Wings per book and be treated to a pizza party. Last year’s recipients received unique certificates and two dollar bills.  So challenge yourself to read from the Great Books list as you reach your AR goals this school year.
