Fun with Science

The physical science class recently took part in a lab in order to test inertia, which is an object's resistance to a change in state of motion.  The student’s first experiment was to fill a red plastic cup with water, place an index card on top of the cup and then set a quarter on top of the card.  They then had to flick the side of the index card to have the quarter fall into the cup of water.  The class raised the stakes and changed their materials with a little plastic plate, a toilet paper roll, and an egg.  They then set the plate on top of the cup, then put the toilet paper roll in the center of the plate, followed by setting the egg on top of the roll.  Students had to hit the plate out from underneath the roll to send the egg down into the water.  This was a great way to get the class involved and to have fun learning about science.
