Last week a select group of students was invited to attend the Envirothon at the Ballard Nature Center near Altamont. The Envirothon is where teams from local schools compete against each other by answering questions about aquatics, forestry, soils, wildlife, and land management. The students are chosen to go by their interests in these subjects and the knowledge they have in those areas.
The chosen students were put into two groups. The upperclassmen team that represented BHS included Jordan Koehler, Jeffrey Taylor, Jacob Rolfingsmeier, Zachary Koehler, and Austin Robson. The freshman and sophomore team for BHS included Jacob Bloemker, Joshua Rolfingsmeier, Isaac Hebenstreit, Dawson Barker, and Colton Payne. Teams from Effingham, Cumberland, Fayette, Shelby, and Jasper Counties gathered for the event. Out of 16 total teams, BHS placed 1st in fayette County and 4th place overall. Congratulations to the BHS Envirothon varsity team on their success!
