Eighth Grade Trip

How are students rewarded for completing junior high?  I can't speak for other schools,
but at Brownstown the students received a trip to Gateway Fun Park in Collinsville, Illinois on May 6th.  In previous years, students have gone to Holiday World or Six Flags  which are not open yet this year, so this was their first year at the park for the promotion trip.

In eighth grade, the trip is paid for by the attendees themselves.  For twenty-five dollars, students received three hours of go karts, eighteen hole putt - putt golf, bumper boats, bumper cars, batting cages, and forty tokens for the arcade.  Participants were also responsible for their own lunch and any snacks they wished to purchase.

The trip did not officially begin until 9:30 in the morning when students left the high school, so there was an open gym held for all eighth graders instead of classes until that point.  Before entering the fun park, the group ate at Steak 'n Shake in Collinsville.  Then from twelve to three the students were allowed to explore the park and play on their own.  After a day of fun, the students returned around 4:30pm where they were picked up by parents.  The fun park was a great way to celebrate a good school year and the promotion of the eighth grade class.  Congratulations on completing junior high and welcome to high school!
