Every year BHS has new seniors that stress over essays and applications for scholarships. Money is tighter than ever so the race to win scholarships is very competitive among the thousands of seniors that are graduating in the US. However, what many of these seniors don't know is that there are scholarships for everything! They are everywhere and there are so many different search engines that will match your GPA and ACT/SAT scores for possible scholarships. Some of the scholarships are easy and don't require essays, while others only take ten minutes of your time. These scholarships might seem too good to be true but there's always a possibility that you could win thousands of dollars because you took those ten minutes to apply.

Mrs. Hardiek, counselor at BHS, is more than happy to help the seniors of the 2014 class in every possible way. Each month she sends all seniors an email containing notes about possible scholarships. The Horatio Alger Association Scholarship is one of the most highly recommended at this time. Awards can range from $2,500 to $20,000 and applications must be submitted online by October 25th. The Veteran of Foreign Wars, and the Daughters of the American Revolution are two awards that can be won by submitting essays on how seniors feel about the nation’s past, present, and future state.  Every application is unique so it’s time to take a step forward in order to pay for your college education!
