Mr. Toby Harms, a Brownstown High School history teacher, recently completed a project with his Introduction to Social Sciences class.  Students learned about cultures from around the world and were challenged to make a culture cube.  They were graded on their cube’s construction and the information displayed.  Students were randomly assigned a country and were expected to create a poster board cube.  Elements included a hand-drawn map, the flag of the country, and other demographics .  Throughout the project, students were educated on a country’s culture, language, currency, GDP, and many other facts.  This sociology assignment aligned with Common Core standards to teach the class about unfamiliar countries and peoples.
