The annual BHS Sports Boosters Fish Fry was a success this year.  The students from Brownstown and St Elmo sold a total  of 478 Fish Fry tickets and they sold another 95 at the door for a total of 573 tickets.  They sold 697 tickets last year at the event.  The fish fry is the sports booster’s biggest fundraiser.  According to sports booster officer, Jacy Schaub, this year the fish fry raised $4,140.  “The high school baseball team sold the most tickets and we will have a pizza party for them.  The top two ticket sellers were Dakota Orechovesky and Caleb Atwood who tied selling 14 tickets each.”

The sports boosters rely on fundraising throughout the year. The money raised by the sports boosters is used to buy new uniforms, provide food for hospitality rooms, and other miscellaneous expenses.  That is why it is great that the community comes out and supports sports booster fundraisers.  There are several fundraisers going on that people can help support.  They sell concessions at home baseball games.  They offer the spectators pork burgers, hotdogs, nachos, pretzels, soda, and candy.  A t-shirt sale is coming in October, and don’t forget Spirit Night festivities when basketball arrives.

The current fundraiser is a “30 Days-30 Guns” raffle.  The tickets are $25 a ticket and the ticket owner has thirty chances to win a gun.  The drawings will be held from November 1 to November 30.  If you are interested in tickets contact a sports booster member, or check out the information on the Brownstown/St. Elmo Sports Boosters Facebook page.
