A New Coach for SEB JH Cheerleading

This year’s 2016-2017 junior high cheerleading coach was Marisa Thomason. Marisa went to school in Brownstown where she cheered throughout junior high and high school for seven years. In 2011 she attended Greenville College where she cheered for one year. She accomplished her goal in May of 2015 by earning her bachelor's degree in social work and then started working at the Brownstown School District in January of 2016 as a teacher's aid. During her free time, she likes watching movies, working out, and participating in church activities. She loves to spend time with her family, especially her niece and nephew.

This past school year Miss Thomason took on another role as the SEB junior high cheerleading coach. She enjoys being a coach for many reasons but her main one is her passion for working with young girls. Coach Thomason said, “The girls on my squad were very coachable and willing to work together on anything.” She likes to coach these girls because they are always excited to learn new cheers. Miss Thomason and the girls have to use their creative sides when thinking of cheers and stunts, but their main priority in finding new cheers and stunts is to make sure they are all safe. During the season all of the girls attended tumbling to make themselves better. The following girls were a part of the 2016-2017 junior high cheer squad: Madalynn Blankenship, Willow Brown, Madison Doty, Haley Golden, Emily Lawson, Addie Matlock, Nora Rees, Hope Struble and Teresa Viramontes.

The Brownstown School District wants to thank MarisaThomason for all of her hard work and her dedication to the junior high cheerleading squad. She does an amazing job at being a coach, teacher's aide, part-time librarian, and helping with breakfast every morning. All of her help in the school district is much appreciated!
