This season is off to a great start! BSE boys Seth Powell, Clay Miller, Andre Sloan, and Justin Karnes broke the 4x800 record at the EIU boys invitational on March 19, 2016 with a time of 10:19. Congratulations boys on this outstanding accomplishment! The team has already participated in the following meets: the EIU boys & girls Invitational, as well as Mt. Olive, Teutopolis, and Shelbyville. Recently, I interviewed Brownstown-St. Elmo high school track coach Christina Pasley. Coach Pasley says she has a great group of kids that do everything she asks them and works hard at improving in all they do. Coach Pasley says she is looking forward to a unified team that encourages each other.

Coach Pasley stated that as a whole her team's strengths are in field events and middle distance. Goals she wants her team to achieve this year are to place in big meets and qualify at least one boy and one girl for state. Pasley says that during team practices they work hard at building stamina and strength in their legs, core, and arms. Christina commented on how the team doesn't complain when it's workout day and this hard work is carrying over to race day.

This track season there are two girls, Sydney Rosborough and Kaylee Sefton, and five boys, Brock Oberlink, Justin Karnes, Clay Miller, Andre Sloan, and Seth Powell on the team. Coach Pasley stated that Sydney Rosborough is a great team leader who she can count on for anything. The teams will be attending several invitationals: the Shelbyville girls open, Sam Bennett girls Invite, Cumberland boys Invite, Robinson boys Invite, Shelbyville boys open, an NTC meet hosted by Altamont, and both boys and girls will be attending sectionals later in the season. Pasley is excited for this year’s season and is ready to see what the rest of the season has in store for the team.
